June 2019 : The local specialist respiratory group has recommended that all easy haler devices except Salbutamol are removed from use. The easyhaler devices cause problems in giving consent information on inhaler technique as they are the only dry powder devices which require shaking. The message used by respiratory staff is:

  • dry powder devices = don't shake + forceful inhalation
  • pMDI devices= don't shake +gentle inhalation
  • Easy halers therefore require a mixed message. Including salbutamol easy haler "on formualry"  is therfore not completely logical but there are limited dry powder salbutamol devices.
